PARENT FACILITATOR TRAINING (PFT) MODULE 1

Dear all Henderson Secondary School Parents,

 

Kindly be informed that the school and its Parent-Teacher Association are opening an invitation to parent who are interested to be more actively involved in their childrens' school life and its community activities.

Please note that there shall be a condition for you to comply with, you have to become an Active Committee Member of Henderson Secondary School Parent-Teacher Association (HSS-PTA).

Message from Family Matters @School of MSF - Ministry Soical Family

 

Facilitator Training (PFT) - MODULE 1

 

We would like to invite schools to nominate up to 2 parent volunteers for the next  Parent Facilitator Training (PFT) (Module 1) commencing on the following dates. There is a choice of 3 classes with different days and time slots:

1)      Thursday Evening Class – commencing 27 June 2013

2)      Saturday Afternoon Class – commencing 29 June 2013

3)      Monday Morning Class – commencing 1 July 2013

 

 

Objective and Details of PFT Module 1

 

The PFT Module 1 is designed for parents with no formal or working knowledge of Family Life Education (FLE) and who are passionate to know more about FLE basics. The total cost of Module 1 is SGD$400. However, participants are only required to pay SGD$50 which is subsidised by MSF, if they successfully complete the module.

 

Topics covered include:

- Parenting and Parenting Education

- Family Life Cycle

- How Marriage Affect Parenting

- Development of Children in the area of PIES

- Psychological Development of Pre-teens and Teenagers

- Facilitating and Presentation Skills

- Parenting Skills

 

At the end of Module 1, participants will be equipped with the basic necessary skills and techniques to facilitate simple modules effectively. Upon completion, they will also be expected to complete their obligatory payback of 9 hours within a year. These 9 hours should take the form of facilitating coffee talk/workshop sessions for the Familymatters@School programme at their school.

(1)    Participants should not miss more than 2 lessons for the module.

About Fei Yue Community Services and Trainers

 

Established in 1996, Fei Yue Community Services provides a wide-range of family life education programmes that catered to the different needs and groups of the community. It is also a long-time service provider and partner of the FamilyMatters@School Programme (previously known as School Family Education).

Ms Evelyn Khong
Evelyn has been a Family Life Educator & a lay counselor conducting talks, workshops, family life related camps & events, etc. She is also a program partner with Focus On The Family’s Parenting with Confidence Workshops for parents with children of all ages, and is also an accredited instructor to run “Families In Action”, “How Not To Marry A Jerk”, and “Family Wellness” programs from USA .

Evelyn demonstrates great passion, sensitivity and compassion for people of all races, ages and walks of life. In 1995, she was responsible for a number of fund
raising projects for the poor and needy, and thereafter in 1998, she helped set up and operate a Day Care Centre for the Elderly in Hougang. She has conducted various talks, workshops & family bonding events in Corporations, Ministries, Schools, Community Clubs, Libraries and Prisons as well.
 
Her motto in life is "Believe in people; there is always something good in them no matter how bad you think they may appear to be".

The Singapore Parenting Congress 2013 is here, it will be held at The Star Performing Arts Centre (located at Star Vista, opposite Buona Vista MRT) on 6 July 2013.
